<dc:title>Correspondence between Dr James Fisher and Sir John Vane</dc:title>
<dc:description>Dr Fisher was Professor and Chairman of the Department of Pharmacology at Tulane University, New Orleans; as such, he researched prostaglandins and prostacyclins, visiting Sir John Vane's laboratories on several occasion. The correspondence in this file mostly relates to his attempts to take a sabbatical from Tulane University in order to work at the Wellcome Laboratories, in 1977 - 1978 and 1980. His proposed projects are a collaboration with Dr P Mary Cotes, to investigate prostaglandins, cyclic AMP and kidney production of eryhropoietin, and a collaboration with Ernie Huehns, to investigate the effects of prostaglandins on etythroid colony formation in mouse and human bone marrow cultures. The correspondence also includes a letter relating to Dr Cotes' work on the infusion of prostacyclins, and erythropoietin (September 1984).</dc:description>
