<dc:title>Meteorological observations at Canton [Guangzhou], China, author unknown</dc:title>
<dc:description>Daily meteorological observations made at Canton [now Guangzhou], China. Columns for the date, thermometer, barometers, wind direction, rainfall, thunder, and general remarks. The manuscript also contains a summary of the data by month [p.7]: 'Tableau general ou resumé des observations meteorologiques faites à Canton L'an 1804'.

The main tables begin with two barometers in use, noted as 1 and 2, but from 9 August, barometer 3 replaces barometer 1 until 15 September, on which day no.1 comes back into use. The differences are explained in an extended end-note [p.8], including the makers' names: barometer 1 was made by [James] Gatty of London, no.2 by [Matthew] Berge of London.

Headed [p.1]: 'Observations Meteorologiques. Canton. Janvier 1804 [and the date changing for subsequent months]'. Stamped 'Soc. Reg. Lond.' and inscribed 'Presented by David Lance Esqr. Jany. 16. 1806'. </dc:description>
