Meteorological observations at Toronto [Canada], by Charles James Buchanan Riddell Monthly meteorological data sheets, January-December 1840, in two parts: form 1 containing uncorrected meteorological observations, form 2 corrected meteorological results. Form 2 containing the corrected data for December 1840 is not present. Form 1, main table, contains columns of information on: date and Moon; barometer; temperature and dew point; wet bulb thermometer; temperature minimum and maximium, with solar radiation data; temperature of sea or running water; wind direction and gauge; rainfall; electricity; general weather remmarks; latutude and longitude at noon; with a repeated date and Moon column. A secondary table, below, is for uncorrected and corrected hourly observations of the barometer and thermometer on the 21st day of the month [Winter solstice]. Form 2, main table, contains columns of information on: date and Moon; pressure of atmosphere; elasticity of vapour; and temperature (maximum, minimum and mean). A second set of tables, below, presents monthly temperature and pressure in graphical form. Completed by Lieutenant C.J.B. Riddell, Royal Artillery, Toronto, Upper Canada, with his signature on sheets 1-20; there are no signatures on sheets 21-23. Each sheet is inscribed: 'Published by Richard & John E.
