There are only partial records for the periods 5-11 January and 18-25 January 1844, with the explanations: 'The curves are not continuous evidently some obstruction in the machinery' and 'Some obstruction in the machinery has prevented low water being marked'. 

Headed [p.1]: 'Abstract of Tidal Curves registered at Penang from 29 Decr. 1843 to 26 April 1844'. Repeated [p.7] with the signature 'T.G. Taylor U.C. Astr.' [Thomas Glanville Taylor]. </dc:description>
