<dc:title>Meteorological observations made at Winter Quarters Bay, Antarctica, by Louis Bernacchi</dc:title>
<dc:description>Rough copy daily observations of atmospheric electricity, with accompanying meteorological information. Including diary-style prose descriptions of clouds and aurora. The main sets of data record the date and time of observations, temperature, wind, and clouds; with earth and air electricity readings, and occasional general remarks. The location of the observations was Winter Quarters, at McMurdo Sound. However a note [p.50] describes a local change of location: 'Brought electrometer, stand, & pole over to ship. Observations now taken in same way as before on ice-floe about 100 yds away from ship's side'. The notebook commences [p.1]: 'No.81 Electrometer observation Winter Harbour'. There are some records of expedition photography [p.172] 'Cloud Photos' and [p.194] 'Spectrum Photos with Prismatic Camera'.

Made during National Antarctic Expedition 1901-1904 [the Discovery Expedition] led by Captain Robert Falcon Scott.
