Letter from W.E. Cochrane, 7 Allsop Place, Regent's Park, to Sir Humphry Davy, President of the Royal Society Submitting his development of a new type of lamp for the prize medal, instituted by Count Rumford, for the improvements or discoveries on heat or light. Cochrane's invention would make use of tallow oil for better quality and a lower price than fish oil lamps.
