Letter from David Bierens de Haan, [Amsterdam], to the Council of the Royal Society Haan presents the purpose and work of the Huygens Committee, which is to provide an edition of the Dutch mathematician and physicist, Christiaan Huygens (1629-1695) works and correspondence. He submits a petition to the Royal Society requesting letters in their possession from Huygens so they may be copied 'and worked on', including a list of the number of letters. Enslosed is a printed second report of the Huygens Committee written in dutch comprising of 16 pages which refers to Huygen's correspondence with English scientists, a small number of which is found in the collections of the Society. 1885
