Remarks the expansion apparatus Rix mentions is not the same apparatus the Standards Department would like to borrow. As Mr G F Rodwell is abroad 'it may be difficult to trace the apparatus in question', and Chaney will enquire with Rodwell when he returns to the country. 27 February 1888
