Letter from [Reginald Laurence] Antrobus, Downing Street, [London], to the Secretary of The Royal Society Conveys, on behalf of Mr. Secretary Chamberlain, the enclosed memorandum [enclosure present] issued by the Government of the Straits Settlements. The memorandum calls for the attention of scholarship holders in medical research to study beri-beri and offers facilities to individuals who may visit the Colony for research purposes. Mr. Chamberlain requests that the Royal Society publicise this notice to support the objectives of the Government of the Straits Settlements in their efforts regarding beri-beri research. 24 August 1899
