  <dc:description>Phipson refers to the Royal Society accpeting a copy of his paper on 'past and present history of the earth's atmosphere'. During the outbreak of the Russo-Japanese war he received a letter from Professor T Sakakibara, of the Imperial School of Medicine, Tokyo, asking permission to translate the work in to Japanese, which he gave. Phipson would like to offer the Royal Society a copy of the Japanese translation.</dc:description>
