<dc:title>Letter from [Richard Tetley] Glazebrook, The National Physical Laboratory, Bushy House, Teddington, Middlesex, to [Alfred Bray] Kempe, Treasurer of the Royal Society</dc:title>
<dc:description>'My dear Treasurer, You will remember that some little time back I was authorised to order from Otto Toepfer & Sohn, of Potsdam, a special curve tracer for the Antarctic Magnetic work at a cost of, I think, £75.m On receipt of the order they asked for a payment of from 1/3rd to 1/2 the cost in view of the heavy expenses they were put to. Some evasive repy was given, and they have now written repeating the request more definitely. They are a firm of good standing, and I think in view of the circumstances, and specially of the fact that we are urgently in need of the instrument a cheque for, say, £25 might be sent. If you approve, will you give instructions for this; it would probably be better, I think, if the cheque came direct from you rather than that it should pass through our accounts. Yours truly, R.T.Glazebrook, Director'.</dc:description>
