Lightfoot, a Sorby Fellow at the University, wishes to volunteer for front-line service. Although Mr. Lightfoot intends to relinquish his Fellowship, he hopes it can be held over for him until his return, should he survive the war. Expresses his personal view that it would be appropriate to hold the Fellowship for Mr. Lightfoot until he comes back. 10 November 1914
