1)  Copy of an acknowledgement of receipt of Gilbert's letter, dated 4 June 1923.
2) An internal Royal Society letter from the Secretary to Professor [Ernest William] MacBride stating that the thesis is "rubbish", asking whether MacBride can "discover a fragment worth preserving", dated 4 June 1923.
3) A letter to William Bate Hardy from Macbride commenting on the thesis, referring to it as "most awful tosh I have ever read", proceeding to highlight the lack of scientific expertise, dated 7 June 1923.
4) Copy of an outgoing letter from the Royal Society to Gilbert informing him that it is unsuitable for publication by the Royal Society, dated 11 June 1923.</dc:description>
