Letter from Max Born, Department of Natural Philosophy, University at Edinburgh, to A V Hill, [Secretary of the Royal Society] Informs Hill that he had written to him as secretary of the Royal Society but in fact merely wanted his personal opinion. Asks him 'not to bring my little note before the Society, but send it back to me'. Is aware that 'it is not in the competence of the Society to enter into ''the field of morals and politics'' - but I am convinced it cannot be avoided...if a German scientist should make important discoveries using similar methods to those mentioned in my note I am quite sure he would not be made FRS'. Would like to 'join forces with Niels Bohr who very likely shares my views. But he is in so secret war work that even his address seems to be kept secret'. 13 December 1944
