Letter from the Assistant Registrar, University of Cambridge, to A V Hill Regarding the reported incident removing foreign scientists from the University's laboratories - has discovered that there 'was no general drive to turn aliens out of University Departments, but a few individuals...who had not the proper auxiliary war service permit...to cover their working in a Department in which secret work was in progress' had been told that they must apply for a permit. Suggests that the decision was 'a nuisance but a reasonable extension'. 8 September 1943
