Copy letter from William Bate Hardy, Secretary, the Royal Society, to Edward Albert Sharpey Schafer Council has agreed that Dr. Hogben, holder of the Mackinnon Studentship, can accept the offer to give a course of lectures at the University of Michigan. The six-month period extends beyond the time for which Hogben holds the studentship, unless he is re-elected. Council's permission is on the understanding that Dr. Hogben would have to supply a substitute at Edinburgh, who would receive the salary pertaining to work in Hogben's absence. 5 December 1924
