Receipt from James Short for instruments handed over by Charles Mason and Jeremiah Dixon to the Royal Society
Of two boxes containing two reflecting telescopes, two globes, one clock, one quadrant and one alarum clock. Noted that the thermometer "was by accident broke" and that the stands for the instruments "were so much damaged in the Engagement at Sea that it was not worth while to bring them from the Cape".
