Extract from the minutes of the Council of the Royal Society of 18 June 1840, calling for the establishment of a magnetical and meteorological observatory "in the neighbourhood of London", signed J W Lubbock MM/11/87-90 are written in the same hand and appear to be by G B Airy who was concerned about the effect on the Greenwich Observatory of attempts to build a new observatory for magnetical observations.
