Letter from GC Foster to Lord Rayleigh Commenting on the material submitted to the Royal Society by Sir Frederick Abel arising from the dispute between Dr Hermann Sprengel and Abel on the correct recognition for the "discovery of the explosibility of wet guncotton through cumulative detonation". Foster concludeds that Abel's evidence proves he was in possession of the method of exploding wet guncotton six months before Sprengel's communication on the topic to the Chemical Society. 24 December 1892
