Fragments of wood from Woolsthorpe Manor Two fragments of wood supposedly from an ancient apple tree at Woolsthorpe Manor, Sir Isaac Newton's childhood home. In May 2010 these pieces of wood were taken into space on NASA shuttle mission STS-132 as part of the Royal Society's 350th anniversary celebrations. An archive folder with 9 signed photographs, one certificate of authenticity and the photograph of Newton's portrait that was taken into Space is kept on the shelf with the items. late 17th century
