<dc:description>A long-case regulator in a veneered mahogany case with three legs. The face comprises a large minutes outer dial, a smaller inner seconds dial and 'John Shelton London' inscription. The pendulum is visible via a glass pane at the bottom of the case. One of five regulators John Shelton made for the Royal Society in the 1760s; this one accompanied Captain James Cook on his second and third voyages in the Pacific Ocean. </dc:description>
