  <dc:description>The Report of the Royal Society is currently being completed. The forms for recording magnetic and meteorological observations, drawn up by Captain [John Theophilus] Boileau of the East India Company, will be printed after [John] Herschel has seen them. 

A bifilar magnetometer for the Breslau magnetic observatory is to be ordered from Thomas Grubb, the British Association for the Advancement of Science or the Royal Society to pay for it. 

A letter from [Charles James Buchanan] Riddell (director of the Toronto magnetic observatory) has been received dated 25th November 1839: a temporary observatory has been established by Riddell in a barracks [at Fort York].  </dc:description>
