<dc:title>Thirty-fourth report of progress of excavations by William Pengelly and Edward Vivian, Torquay, to the British Association Kent's Cavern Committee</dc:title>
<dc:description>Monthly report of the superintendents of exploration. Exploration into the South-West gallery. Lists the different layers of deposits found: first floor is granular stalagmite, second floor is crystalline stalagmite, third floor is coherent rock-like breccia, and the fourth floor is a breccia compound. Bones are very abundant in the rock-like breccia layer, '"they are lying about just as if they had been thrown there with a shovel."' Breccia containing bones have been preserved and some portions have been sent to the Secretary's residence. The bones lie confusedly together, not in anatomical positions. A single piece of charcoal was found in the granular stalagmite layer, and was the only indication of the presense of man. </dc:description>
