<dc:title>Thirty-ninth report of progress of excavations by William Pengelly and Edward Vivian, Torquay, to the British Association Kent's Cavern Committee</dc:title>
<dc:description>Monthly report of the superintendents of excavation. They are still occupied with the excavation of the South-West Chamber. Within five separate parallels of the Cave-Earth deposit, 'a flint implement accompanied by teeth and bones' of ordinary cave mammals were found. Two drawings [1] and [2] are supplied to show the size and forms of two of the implements accordingly - 'that [flint] marked 2 was unfortunately broken by the workmen'. Few bones were found during October, except on the 30th day a considerable number were found. Visitors to the Cavern in the past month have included: Her Majesty the Queen [Sophie] of Holland, and Mr [John] Bright, the MP for Birmingham. </dc:description>
