Letter from [Heinrich] Barth, 39 Alpha Road, North West to Edward Sabine Barth is sending Sabine the first volumes of his narrative [referencing his Travels and Discoveries in North and Central Africa: being a Journal of an Expedition undertaken under the Auspices of H.B.M.'s Government, in the Years 1849–1855]. The second series describes the region where Sabine’s good friend Major [Alexander Gordon] Laing’s grave is [Timbuktu] which Sabine may find interesting. Barth hopes to publish the two concluding volumes in autumn. Fragmentary state of Barth’s meteorological register may be of some use to Sabine. 7 May 1857
