<dc:title>Letter from Antoine [Thomson] d'Abbadie, Paris to Edward Sabine</dc:title>
<dc:description>Discussion on Sabine’s election to the Institut [de France]. After preparing a report to the Académie des Sciences, Abbadie was prevented from reading it on a question of ‘etiquette’, however he has spoken to a number of influential members who were surprised that Sabine had not been a member some 20 years ago, and they assured Abbadie of their vote in Sabine’s favour. Abbadie is leaving for Hemaye (Barnes Pyrenees) on Saturday. Abbadie is certain of Sabine’s election.</dc:description>
