<dc:title>Letter from George Bentham, 25 Wilton Place to Edward Sabine</dc:title>
<dc:description>It has been over twelve months since Sabine awarded [Miles Joseph] Berkeley a Royal Society medal, and suggested to Bentham that Berkeley was highly deserving of a civil list pension. Sabine would like Bentham to ‘originate a memorial’ in regard to this which Sabine would support with his signature, however Bentham remained unconvinced that Berkely should be honoured with this. Mr Berkely brought a memorial to Bentham this afternoon signed by Sir William [Jackson] Hooker, and upon reflection Berkeley’s claims are stronger than he had anticipated and ‘readily’ signed the memorial. Bentham assured Berkeley of Sabine’s support of his application.</dc:description>
