Letter from William Radcliffe Birt, Kew Observatory to [Kew Committee] Birt discusses the electrical observations and suggests adding to columns to the forms [used to record observations], to record a numerical amount of cloud, and the directions of the lighter clouds. Birt informs the committee that magnetical observations have not yet commences apart from determining the dip. The records of [Karl] Kriel’s barometrograph is proceeding with ‘tolerable satisfaction’. Birt describes errors that the barometer readings will be affected by.
