<dc:title>Letter from Robert Lewis John Ellery, Melbourne Observatory to Edward Sabine</dc:title>
<dc:description>Ellery acknowledges receipt of the results of observations from Kew Observatory from 1857 to 1862. Sabine informed Professor [William Parkinson] Wilson that a complete self-registering apparatus has been constructed for £57. Ellery asks Sabine to kindly order an apparatus for himself as well.

Ellery informs Sabine that they will begin a new series of magnetical observations at Melbourne Observatory at the beginning of 1864. Professor [Georg von] Neumayer then leaves for Europe. Ellery intends to get the government to grant him self-registering magnets.</dc:description>
