Data recorded is the scale reading of the slide, scale reading centre, ratio of a/r, position, distance from the centre, corrected radius and corrected ratio.

Part of the Kew Observatory project to capture daily images of the sun and track sun-spots over time, using the photoheliograph built for this purpose by Warren de la Rue. This pursuit was first suggested by Sir Jon Herschel and executed by Warren de la Rue from February 1862 to late January 1872. 

Notes include comments on the quality of individual photographs.</dc:description>
