<dc:title>Copy letter, James Hudson, Assistant Secretary of the Royal Society, to Dr [John] Latham, Winchester</dc:title>
<dc:description>Hudson has compared the plate in the first volume of the Philosophical Transactions from Latham's set to the Royal Society's, in consultation with [James] Basire. They are taken from different copper plates. The plate sizes are different and Society's is a strong line engraving, while Latham's is in aquatint. He believes that Latham's is the older copy and the Society's has the appearence of being copied in a mechanical manner from an existing plate.
