<dc:title>Copy letter, JWL [John William Lubbock], Rl Socy [Royal Society], to Revd Geo [George] Peacock</dc:title>
<dc:description>The President has received a note from the Chancellor of the Exchequer to say that Goversnment will defray the costs of magnetic instruments, therefore the £400 voted by the [British] Association may be witheld or repaid. The Chancellor may have written to Peacock, but if not, he says that Peacock and Professor [Humphrey] Lloyd should send an estimate of expense to the Ordnance or Treasury to complete the orders. Lubbock asks him to write if he or the President can do more.</dc:description>
