Copy letter from C R [Charles Richard] Weld, the Assistant Secretary of the Royal Society; to Mr R Hale In reference to the request to have a favourable opinion of Hale's 'Hydralic Fire Escape', informs that the Royal Society does give opinions on inventions, nor does it employ agents who will do so. Suggests applying the fire escape to the Society of Arts, whose business it is to take inventions into consideration. 12 May 1848
