Copy letter from C R [Charles Richard] Weld, the Assistant Secretary of the Royal Society; to Charles Turner Esq Replies in answer to the misunderstanding between Mr Mallet and Mr Grillier regarding the photograph of the earthquake phenomena. Explains that Mr Miller, applied through C Lyall for a grant of £50 to obtain a photograph of the phenomena. This was granted. Mallet had at no point any authority to negotiate the any amount beyond the £50 granted. 19 July 1858
