Copy letter from W [William] Sharpey, Secretary of the Royal Society; to Col the Hon C H Lindsay Concerning the request to use the meeting room to deliver a short series of lectures to Mr Peel to the St. George's rifle corp. Informs the President and Council will be happy to comply, were it not for the risk it may set a precedence for others to request the meeting room to hold lectures, which is not its function. Suggests the United Services Institution may be able to provide a space, and of not, will grant the room under special circumstances. 20 April 1860
