Copy letter from [Samuel] Hunter Christie, Secretary of the Royal Society; to [George Biddel] Airy, Esq, Astronomer Royal, Royal Observatory, Greenwich Informs that the President and Council have agreed to grant the 2 requested equipment to [George Biddel] Airy, the Astronomer Royal. Under the conditions that the equipment be placed in a fire proof room and are not to be touched other than for the purpose Airy has for them. That is, to create new standards for measurements and weights. 19 January 1843
