<dc:description>Informs the Royal Society is currently in recess but will bring Miss Becker's letter to a Secretary when they are in Town. Informs that the Royal Society have never admitted a woman as a Fellow and doubts if the Charters of the Society would allow it. Explains that only Fellows can attend meetings, and individuals they have introduced at the meeting. Informs that a Miss Alice Johnson did present a paper in May 1884 ['On the changes and ultimate fate of the blastopore in the newt (Triton cristatus)'] and was present at its reading. Recognises this will encourage other 'authoress' to present scientific papers.</dc:description>
