Letter from W J Pope, Cambridge University Chemical Laboratory, to [James C] Philip, Assistant Secretary of the Chemical Sub-Committee Informs Philip that the letter on military service [asking for details of men engaged in scientific work eligible for active duty] applies only to one man, an F H Jeffery, who was issued a badge for work in the photographic sensitiser -- notes that 'in view of the valuable assistance he is able to give in this work we are clearly justified in asking for his continued exemption'. 13 March 1917
