Letter from [William B Hardy?] to W P Burton Encloses copies of a report showing that bread made with 1/3 maize semolina cooks as well as with wheat; says he will settle the question of whether germ causes bad digestion; notes that the Committee has been unable to determine any negative effects in use of maize in bread; the Committee recommends that maize imports be immediately diverted to human use, along with barley held by brewers since brewing was prohibited. 2 May 1917
