Letter from Cyril Longhurst, National Antarctic Expedition, 1 Savile Row, to A B [Alfred Bray] Kempe Encloses a cheque for £16, due to Mr Bate, for Kempe's signature. There is no signed memorandum from the Executive Committee for this, as Sir Vesey Hamilton does not like signing these on Sir Clements [Markham's] behalf when the Committee has not really met to approve the cheque. Encloses the claim for the cheque instead, which should be sufficient. 1 August 1900
