<dc:title>Letter from Cyril Longhurst, 10 Porchester Square, Hyde Park, to [Alfred Bray] Kempe</dc:title>
<dc:description>Longhurst explains that he wanted to speak with Kempe about the 'Shackleton business'. He saw [William] Shackleton that morning and told him of the Committee's thoughts about his case. He was very reasonable, and Shackleton wrote a letter accepting the Committee's terms. Longhurst has shown this to Mr [Robert] Chalmers and Mr [Edward] Cocks, who are glad to have the matter settled. A cheque for payment has been written, which requires Kempe signature and is enclosed. The Committee regards this as their final action in the matter, and Longhurst has explaned this in a friendly letter to Shackleton. Longhurst asks Kempe to read all the letters over and then send them on to Shackleton if he approves. Another cheque for £18-14-4 is included, which is Shackleton's salary for July, also for Kempe to sign and send on.</dc:description>
