Letter from L [Leonard] Darwin to Sir Michael [Foster] Has heard that [Sir Clements] Markham has written to the Treasury again, but does not know what his letter said. Complains about the Royal Society meeting with [Arthur] Balfour and writing to the Treasury without informing the Royal Geographical Society. 'How can I possibly pursuade our Council not to take separate action when you are doing so without telling us?' Darwin hopes to get the 'sore' between the Societies resolved once Markham is no longer involved. [June 1903]
