Letter from G A [George Adolphus] Schott, 38 Portland Street, Aberystwyth, to [Frank] Dyson He would like someone to speak to [Joseph] Larmor about Professor A.H. [Alfred Heinrich] Bucherer. He describes Bucherer's research work, noting that he is wealthy, but his inferiority in the academic world compared to his scientific reputation 'is galling to him'. There is movement to get him the title of ordinary professor, a title with certain privileges, if not salary. [Hendrik] Loretz is preparing an expression of appreciation of his scientific work and Larmor has been suggested as an English contributor. Bucherer cannot approach Larmor personally, although he is known to him, and Schott has never been introduced to Larmor. He asks Dyson to speak to Larmor, as they must meet frequently at Royal Society meetings, and gives an address for the document to be sent, if they approve of the action. 16 October 1911
