Letter from J [Joseph] Larmor, St John's College, Cambridge, to [John Henry] Poynting Larmor distrusts momentum arguments. He gives a result on the enclosed gas by direct electrodynamic calculation, and states that he will keep Poyting's simple calculation as recreation for tomorrow's train. He would like to get to Paris, but he has mathematical tripos questions to prepare and a lecture to give in Edinburgh. He has other travels, including to Mount Wilson in August. 'If I don't go in for a career of dissipation now, the chance will be gone'. 9 March 1910
