<dc:title>Letter from William A [Augustus] Tilden, The Oaks, Northwood, Middlesex, to [Joseph] Larmor</dc:title>
<dc:description>He has received a letter from Professor [Otto Nikolaus] Witt of Charlottenburg on the subject of the Cambridge Chair, in response to a list of candidates supplied by Tilden. Tilden wishes to know how many were recognised by continental chemists. He quotes from the response, highlighting [Henry John Horstman] Fenton as the most distinguished. His imperiousness of manner is a consideration, but the real question is who is the best chemist with the widest reputation. Tilden hopes that Fenton would be considered seriously.

With some pencilled notes by Joseph Larmor.</dc:description>
