<dc:title>Letter from James Dewar, Royal Institution of Great Britain, London, to [Joseph] Larmor</dc:title>
<dc:description>The words in Larmor's letter which Dewar took exception to were the blunt 'thankless task'. No-one present at the meeting of 13 December when Dewar made his application raised any objection that it was unreasonable, querulous, or unjust. He cannot fathom why Larmor finds it objectionable. He relates the content of their exchanges of correspondence and telegrams, concluding that his appeal had been dismissed and he had been treated with discourtesy. He continues to criticise Larmor's actions, finding it inexplicable why Larmor is 'discharging a duty in the interests of that corporate body should intrude so much of the personal element'. He continues, saying that the matter could have been concluded with more even-handedness. </dc:description>
