<dc:title>Letter from E B [Edwin Bailey] Elliott, 4 Bardwell Road, Oxford, to [Joseph] Larmor</dc:title>
<dc:description>Elliott will write to Lord Rayleigh asking him to referee O. [Osborne] Reynold's paper 'On the sub-mechanisms of the Universe', letting the Assistant Secretary know the decision. He thinks it a pity that Larmor could not act as a referee, and notes K. [Karl] Pearson as a possible second referee. On Pearson's paper, [William] Burnside has declined and if [James Whitbread Lee] Glaisher should not agree, he will go to Everett. Edgeworth and Sheppard have read previous papers in the series but they are not Fellows. [James Hopwood] Jeans's paper should be treated as new, with [Augustus Edward Hough] Love as first referee and perhaps [George] Bryan or [Ernest William] Hobson as seconds. </dc:description>
