Letter from Geo Fras [George Francis] Fitzgerald, T C D [Trinity College, Dublin], to [Joseph] Larmor Fitzgerald thinks that Larmor is now agreeing with him, although Fitzgerald demurs at his suggestion that one area is not explained. He notes what Larmor says about the Fourier analysis of the solar system disturbances. He discusses the freedom of the aether, concluding that they must look for cases in which 'this equal partition of energy fails', and he suggests where to look for a failure of the equal distribuion of energy theorem. In respect of internal vibrations, molecules cannot be dealt with in pairs, they are bound together, and as far as their vibrations are concerned, their neighborhood is one with them. He gives an idea for combining co-ordinates of molecules into one, soemthing he has just thought of. He wonders if a note should be published about it. 3 February 1895
