Incomplete letter from Geo Fras [George Francis] Fitzgerald, Trinity College Dublin, to [Joseph] Larmor Fitzgerald recommends traversing the Ampere-Neumann-Helmholtz method of analysis. He thinks that nothing is known about the elements of currents. He gives a formula for the energy per cubic centimetre of aether due to magnetic phenomena. He gives a way to proceed on electrons, their motion, and magnetic actions upon them. They should be able to deduce the forces on the moving electron. [Oliver] Heavisde has done this in a way that Fitzgerald thinks is sound, and that electrons would be subject to Ampere's forces. He considers where difficulties are likley to arise for Larmor, giving sketches of current running in a circular coil of wire. 7 March 1895
