Letter from A [Andrew] Gray, Penybryn, Bangor, to [Joseph] Larmor He does not know if Larmor has any opinions on the Philosophy Chair at Glasgow, but he would be grateful for any assistance in his candidature. He has been reluctant to trouble Larmor, but has been encouraged by the support of [George Francis] Fitzgerald, [Oliver] Lodge, Clifton and others. He would be indebted for Larmor's testimony. The idea of succeeding Lord Kelvin is out of the question, but he could give systematic help to the students in theoretical and experimental matters. The new regulations in science are coming into force, which will require reorganisation of laboratory teaching. 6 September 1899
